Interstate State Park in Taylor’s Falls, Minnesota is always a favorite of mine. The trail along the St.Croix and the many rock formations around the area have always made for such fun sessions. Both Matti and Matt grew up just a few miles from the park, met in high school and had never actually visited here, so we made a point to check it out for their session!
We started slow, sitting on the rocks watching several rock climbers send a few routes (shout out to those who rock climb!, and by the end, these two were climbing the rocks themselves. When the sun began to set, the glow over the river was so freaking cool, and it felt like we were on top of the world!
Interstate State Park is split between Minnesota and Wisconsin by the St.Croix River. Having been here a couple times, here are my recommendations on where to go if you’ve never been! The Minnesota side has one trail system with an entrance on either end. The top of the trail has nice overlooks (where we ended this session) so you can see the entire area. The lower half has access to the beach along the river. If you jump over to the Wisconsin side, there are several trails with varying lengths and intensities. I’d recommend exploring the Wisconsin side prior to any shoot you may have here just so you know exactly where to go. But, the Minnesota side is fairly easy to navigate for your first time. Regardless, this park is incredible if you haven’t explored it yet!
Okay, enough rambling – enjoy the photos from this session!
