There’s an undeniable kind of magic that happens when nature and love work together to create something extraordinary—and that’s exactly what unfolded on this beautifully rainy fall day at the Outing Lodge in Stillwater, Minnesota. Tucked away in the 400-acre Pine Point Park surrounded by old-growth trees just beginning to shift into vibrant hues of amber, crimson, and gold, this historic estate offered a setting that felt both enchanted and deeply intimate.
Annika and Bill had envisioned a day inspired by many of the classic romance novels. The charm of Outing Lodge truly encompassed both the old world charm and the cozy warmth you’d hope for in a wedding weekend. As the rain gently fell from the overcast sky, it added a soft, ethereal touch to the day, wrapping everything in a quiet, romantic stillness. Instead of taking away from the experience, the rain truly enhanced it. Annika and Bill embraced the weather completely, exchanging smiles and quiet glances that acknowledged that this is exactly how it was meant to be.

An intimate wedding at The Outing Lodge in Stillwater, MN
One of the most remarkable things about Outing Lodge is how well it accommodates smaller, more intimate weddings. Built in the early 1900s with the look and feel of a European country estate, the lodge is rich in charm and character. Guests were welcomed into its warm, inviting interior where crackling fireplaces, candlelight, and antique furnishings created a space that felt like a world away from the bustle of everyday life. The rain outside only added to the feeling of being tucked into a cozy, secluded retreat—perfect for a day that was all about connection, intention, and love.

From the Garden outside to the Library and reception spaces inside, there really are plenty of gathering places for family and guests. I’ve even seen wedding days at Outing Lodge where couples brought in a sail tent for a different approach to the outdoor setting.
Wedding Portraits at The Outing Lodge
One of the major benefits of hosting your wedding at the Outing Lodge is the ample spots for taking portraits. The outdoor locations are unique, and the indoor, lodge aesthetic is perfect for any random weather you might experience. Annika and Bill shared a first look out front of the lodge, and took a really nice walk all over the property to just take in the day.

The Outing Lodge Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony was planned for the outdoor lawn framed by ancient trees, and with the rain gently falling, it was truly out of a storybook. It couldn’t have been more perfect. Rain can feel like a scary reality on a wedding day that has been planned for months, but sometimes the magic of it is found in just letting it unfold. We may have had to run back inside, but the warm glow of the reception welcomed us, and it really made for a beautiful transition into the evening.

A Candle-lit reception in The Outing Lodge
Once inside the reception space at Outing Lodge, the coziness really kicked in! Held in a warmly lit room filled with rustic wooden beams, vintage decor, and soft florals in earthy fall tones, it all felt deeply personal and heartfelt. Guests sat close, enveloped in the kind of quiet reverence that only an intimate gathering can bring.

As the evening continued, the celebration unfolded in a series of joyful, relaxed events. Their candlelit dinner was filled with laughter and clinking glasses. The dance was a balance of spontaneous slow dances and major dance breaks, all while guests cozied up around the property. The rain never let up, but no one minded. If anything, it became a character in the story of the day—soft, steady, and full of calm.
